Android Stock ROMs: Meaning And Download Links

android root

As an avid user of android devices, you should be familiar with Stock ROMs and Custom ROMs. A Stock ROM is particularly the ready-made ROMs that originally come with your android device and under which your warranties are covered.

Except for one reason or another, you should not get rid of your Stock ROM. Of course, if you would like to root your android device or install Custom Recovery; you will definitely tamper with your Stock ROM and this, in return voids your warranty.

That said, in case you ever need to return your phone to whom or where you bought it from, you will have to re-install the stock ROM on the phone.

The good news is, some thinkers ( hackers, so say some ) on the internet have worked hard enough to make available Stock ROMs for your particular provider - T-Mobile, AT&T, telus, Orange amongst a host of others. You can easily download any of these Stock ROMs and install it on your phone. Once done successfully, your warranty has just been recovered.

Where to Download Stock ROMs: HTC, Samsung, Ericson And Others

Among many sources from which you can download Stock ROMs for your various android devices on the internet, I have found the two sources listed below very useful and fulfilling.

1- ShippedROMs - I have being using Stock ROMs from this source for quiet a while and I have found their ROMs very interesting. ShippedROMs cover fairly a large number of Stock ROMs for different android devices and providers.
You can try ShippedROM if you ever have a use for Stock ROms.

2- AndroidRUU - Talking of the number of Stock ROMs for different android devices and service providers, AndroidRUU sure have a large number on their list, too. But, I do have a problem with them whenever I have poor network reception and the problem is; their server does not support " Pause And Resume " downloads.

Whenever or at any point an ongoing download fails, you just have to start all-over again.

How to Obtain SuperCID on HTC Android Phone

SuperCID is said to be obtained when an android HTC phone installs any ROM from any provider around the globe. The SuperCID is particularly useful for those who might want to unlock their bootloader - this is because, at the moment, HTC does not provide bootloader unlock support for customers outside Europe.

Obtaining SuperCID is perhaps the beginning of your HTC android device explorations.
With the SuperCID you can install any stock ROMs and with this, you may unlock your bootloader. With the bootloader unlocked, you can install custom recovery, flash any custom ROMs to your HTC device and also the least of it; you can root your HTC device!

Required Files to Obtain the SuperCID

1- ADB ( Android Debug Bridge ) tools for windows. Download ADB tools here.

2- Download HTC Android USB Drivers here

Once the download of the files above is completed, just install the USB driver on your computer. You may skip this process if you already have HTC Sync installed on your computer.

As for the ADB tools, UNZIP the file and create a new folder for it on your local drive root folder; not in any sub-folder. It should be e.g C:\ADB

Also, make sure that all the files you unzipped are plain within the ADB folder and not in sub-folder of the ADB folder again.

Obtaining SuperCID

1- Enable USB Debugging on your phone.
To enable USB Debugging on your phone, go to Menu <<>> Settings <<>> Application <<>> Development then, mark or tick the USB Debugging option.

2- Disable Fastboot option
In some HTC android phones, fastboot could be found at Menu <<>> Settings <<>> Application <<>> Development or Menu <<>> Settings <<>> Power <<>>Fastboot

3- Set PC Connectivity on your HTC phone to Charge Only

4- Now plug-in the USB Cable to your PC and connect the other end to the phone. Wait few minutes for the initial installation of the drivers to complete.

5- Now, Open command Prompt on your PC. To open command prompt on your PC ( Windows XP ), click the Start Button then, run.
On the box that pops out, type " cmd " and press enter.

For Windows Vista/7 users, click the start button then, type " cmd " and press enter.

6- Go to the command prompt window already opened and type cd c:\adb to point command prompt to the folder within which you have your ADB tools placed.

7- On the next line, type " adb devices "- this should display your device stat and serial number. That's just to confirm that your device is ready. Now, on the next line type " adb reboot-bootloader " and wait for few seconds.
Your phone should now boot into fastboot - bootloader mode.

Also, to confirm that your phone is ready in fastboot mode, type " fastboot devices - your device new stat should appear below the command line.

Now, on the next line, type " fastboot getvar cid " and wait for few seconds.

Please note down the SuperCID figure. If command prompt displays 11111111, it means you already have SuperCID and no need to proceed otherwise; continue to the next line below.

Now, on the next line, type " fastboot oem write cid 11111111 " and wait for few seconds for the response from command prompt. Once done, on the next line, type " fastboot getvar cid " and wait for few seconds to confirm your new CID.

4 Ways to Maximise your Data Usage -Android Users

In this part of the world, the number one challenge most android devices users face is the data it consumes, especially; when you download with it. And yet, I think it would be safe to say it is the most loveable mobile device (OS) the world has seen so far -for so many reasons, of course.

Within this page, you might learn how to minimize the volume of data yo ur Android device consumes thereby helping you maximize the volume of your data allowance as per your subscriptions.

How to Maximize your Android Phone Data Usage

1- Data Service Up-time Duration: depending on your needs, you can occasionally disable your data service. To do this, go to:

Press Menu <<>> Navigate to Settings <<>> Wireless

And from there you can disable or enable your data service.

Please note that for the time for which the service is disabled, you may not be able to access the internet and your syncing programs would halt until the data service is re-enabled.

2- Background data: Android devices have the ability to running programs at the background; a feature that makes the PUSH technology easier for most apps that are being installed on most android devices.

With the background data on; every apps installed on your phone can connect to the internet at will and can download and transmit information to/from the internet outside your knowledge - of course, this has greater impact on your data consumption. You can just disable it to save your data cap.

To disable the background data, go to:

Menu <<>> Settings <<>> Account And Sync <<>> Background Data -Android 2.0 - 3.8

Menu <<>> Setting <<>> Wireless And Networks <<>> Data Usage <<>> Press Menu button to display options and tick "Restrict Background Data" -Android 4.0 and above.<

Please note that disabling the background data may hinder the correct functioning of some apps like; Whatsapp, Yahoo Messenger, Facebook Messenger amongst others.

3- Browsers: as may be known to all already, that a browser may consume data than another especially; when you download with them.
A lighter browser like "Opera consumes much lesser data as compared to the volume of data a browser like Firefox for Android consumes. You may decide to stick with Opera browser that saves much of your data than using any other browser.

Additionally, a browser like Opera has its in-built downloaded and does not depend on the residual Android inbuilt downloader that consumes much greater data.

4- 2G or 4G Service: Although, this completely determines how swift your browsers and downloads are being done; it also helps determine how much data you consume within a period of time.

Using 2G service when no downloads are being done is perhaps the best idea to maximise your data usage however, depending on your location and your service provider, the 2G service could also be as fast when it comes downloads.

In case you have any opinions or suggestions that fan further help maximise the data consumption, you may share it with others using the comment box below.

Aryk DataShare Service Is Being Discontinued!

Data Share

If you are one of our fans that have once benefited or, still benefitting from the Aryk DataShare service, this is to inform you that the DataShare service is being suspended indefinitely. If you are still enjoying the service till now, it simply means that your most recent subscription is still active and yet to expire.

The DatShare Service?

In case you are new here and don't know what the Aryk DataShare is all about, it is a subsidized internet access made available to all Aryk fans that uses Glo lines.

With the DataShare Service, you could get a one month subscription with as little as N500 -this is no trick or cheats! It's just a normal subscription that connects you to the internet anywhere and at any time of the day for as long as you still have your subscription active.

Suspended or Discontinued. Why?

Well, with the use of the DataServ program, Aryk Enterprise manages to share a huge volume of data from Glo between our interested fans who may have requested to subscribe to the Aryk DataShare service. But as time goes by, our subscribers grow bigger and hugger and it became so hard for us to properly manage our subscription downlines and channels.

So, in a nut shell; it is the congestion that we are still unable to properly manage that brings about the indefinate suspension of the Aryk DataShare program.

" The suspension of the program is a necessary measure to put an end to the loss we have enjoyed "

Well, to wrap it all, so much as we crave to providing our fans the cheapest and most affordable internet access if not totally free, we are eager to re-announce the continuation of the service, but then; it is still being suspended for the time being.

Meanwhile, for the time being, you may follow our thread on free and affordable internet access here. We would keep you updated as frequent as we can. Thank you!
