How to Enter BIOS or SETUP and BOOT Menu On Windows PC

The BIOS of a Windows PC is where fundamental configuration of the PC are done. From the BIOS, you can set how the PC is booted, the Windows PC Boot order, the date and time, which hardware components are enabled and which are not. These and other settings alike can be done from the BIOS which is also referred to as SETUP.

Meanwhile, the BIOS is also simply reffered to as SETUP. Entering the BIOS of a Windows PC involves pressing of a KEY or combination of some keys.
However, the exact key or combination of keys (to be pressed) to enter BIOS or SETUP depends on your hardware.

In this article, I have gathered key(s) to enter BIOS or SETUP on various brands of PC. With this list, you should be able to enter SETUP or BIOS on most PC if you press the key(s) at the right moment.

If you press the key at the right moment I say. That's right. Now, what's the right moment to hit the key(s) to enter BIOS?

THE RIGHT MOMENT TO ENTER THE BIOS

Since the BIOS only initializes your PC and that which takes only few seconds, the right moment to enter the BIOS is also within that few seconds while the BIOS is still initializing the PC. This moment is between the time when the PC is powered up and before the OS is lunched which is done by the boot loader.

TO ENTER BIOS OR SETUP

Therefore, to enter the BIOS on your PC, you need to hit the key(s) for entering the BIOS or SETUP (specifically) for your hardware or brand while the BIOS is still initializing.

Some PCs might display a message at this time. The message sometimes reads as thus; "Press <DEL> to Enter Setup" or something similar. When this happens, you know that's the right time to hit the right key.

Meanwhile, if no message is displayed, the right moment to enter the BIOS or SETUP is between the moment when manufacturer logo is displayed and before the Operating System starts booting.

TIDBITTo ensure that you do not miss the moment for entering the BIOS or SETUP, you should press and hold the key(s) for entering the BIOS while you press the Power Button. Keep holding the key until the BIOS comes up.

THE RIGHT HOT KEY(S) TO ENTER BIOS OR SETUP FOR COMMON HARDWARE AND BRANDS

Common keys to enter the BIOS are F1, F2, F9, F10, F12, DEL, ESC, as well as key combinations like CTRL + ALT + ESC or CTRL + ALT + DEL, though the later are commonly used on older machines.
Also, note that a key like F12, F10 and F9 might actually launch something else, like the boot menu. The exact key or key combination depends on your computer manufacturer and model.

Refer to the list below to check for the right key or key combination to enter BIOS or SETUP for your PC.

The most common keys to enter SETUP on Acer hardware are F2 and Delete.

On older computers, try F1 or the key combination CTRL+ALT+ESC.

TOSHIBA
Use F2 key to enter BIOS. F1 and ESC also work for some Toshiba PC.

For Toshiba Equium F12 will enter the BIOS.

FUJITSU
For Fujitsu PCs, F12 will take you to the BIOS.

Others
For other PC not listed here, consult the manual or visit the manufacturer website. The list here shows more comprehensive list as well.

HOW TO ENTER SETUP OR BIOS ON WINDOWS 8

Although, the list above work with Windows PCs as well, Windows 8 has slightly different methods for entering the BIOS. In the case that something is not right, open the Charms bar, by pressing the key combination Win+C, click the Settings icon,  and select Change PC settings in the bottom right.

Within PC Settings, navigate to the General tab and click Restart now under the Advanced startup header.

In Windows 8.1, the steps are slightly different. Within PC Settings, navigate to the Update and Recovery tab, then go to Recovery, and finally click Restart under Advanced startup.

Alternatively, you may press and hold the Shift Button while you press the Restart in the Shut Down menu.

Willing to Improve your Galaxy S6 Battery Span? Try CM12.1, Android 5.1.1

Contrary to the released article published on Sammobile nullifying the spreading rumor that the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are bundled with rather too small battery, giving the duos poor battery live, reports now have it that flashing CM ROM on either of the phones could improve the battery live by up to 100%.

Although, I have not learnt of any official CM ROM available for either of the Samsung Galaxy S6s, I am sure that there are unofficial builds of CM ROM for both Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge out there.

I cannot categorically say that the report is true because I have not tested it myself, it is evident that the battery live of my Samsung Galaxy S5 and S4 improved drastically when I flashed CM ROM on both of them. Meanwhile, it should be noted that it was the official builds of CM ROM that was flashed on both of them.

Based on these evidences, I am in favour of the reports that suggest flashing CM ROM on your Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge to improve the battery life.

GOOGLE FINALLY LAUCH MARSHMALLOW ANDROID 6.0 SDK

Google launches final Android Marshmallow preview and official Android 6.0 SDK

In addition to formally confirming that Marshmallow is the official name of Android M, the forthcoming version of the Android mobile operating system, Google today announced the final preview for the new OS for certain devices.
Today’s Developer Preview 3 of Android M — er, sorry, Android Marshmallow — comes with enhancements to the Fingerprint application programming interface (API), among other things.
The new version “enables better error reporting, better fingerprint enrollment experience, plus enumeration support for greater reliability,” Android product manager Jamal Eason wrote in a blog post today.
And Google Play can now accept applications for Android Marshmallow, specifically those applications that work with Android 6.0’s API level 23.
“At the consumer launch this fall, the Google Play store will also be updated so that the app install and update process supports the new permissions model for apps using API 23,” Eason wrote.
Developers can now download the official Android 6.0 software development kit through the Android SDK Manager in the Android Studio integrated development environment.
As for the new OS preview, it’s available for Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, or Nexus Player. Sign up for the preview here. If you’ve signed up in the past, you’ll receive an over-the-air update.

Google, earlier this week revealed the Android 6.0 'Marshmallow' name and released the Android M Developer Preview 3 images for Nexus devices. Until now, Nexus users were the only ones who could experience the new Google Now launcher that ships with latest preview of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Now, non-Nexus users can now also experience the new Google Now launcher on their devices as its apk file has reached the Web.
The new Google Now launcher, which has been extracted from the Google's latest Android M Developer Preview 3, however, does not come with all its features just yet, and to make the most of the launcher, users would need to run the complete preview ROM on their devices. The Google Now launcher for Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes with nine wallpapers meant for Android 6.0, featuring landscapes and vector graphics.
To install the Google Now launcher for Android 6.0 Marshmallow launcher apk, users would have to navigate to their handset's Settings page and tap on 'Unknown Sources' under the Security option to be able to sideload the installation file. It weighs 14.5MB and is compatible with devices running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and later OS versions. The file can be downloaded from APK Mirror.
It is worth mentioning that the search giant had released the first developer preview of Android M at its developer conference Google I/O in May, and second developer preview in July. The Android M Developer Preview 3 is very close to the final version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, Google had said, adding the update offers an updated permissions UI and API, a new boot screen, and the fingerprint API. The builds can be flashed on the Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, and the Nexus Player. Do also read our guide on how to install the developer preview on Nexus devices.

CM 12.1, Android 5.1.1 Now Available for Samsung Galaxy S4, i9500: Download Here

In about 48 hours ago, I received a push notification to download CM 12.1, Android 5.1.1; the much awaited android version on the Samsung Galaxy S4, i9500 of which I did.
Although, I did the upgrade via the CM OTA update which took about five (5) minutes to complete before it rebooted to the recovery (TWRP) to complete the upgrade.

Guess what! I have being holding an entirely new phone since the upgrade. The look, the feel, graphics, camera, signal strength in short; the entire system of the phone has changed for good.

SIGNAL STRENGTH
Talking of the signal strength, I must say that I have a +(plus) in this as well. The H and H+ becomes more stable and WiFi/Hotspot range is noticeably better. This might be one of the reasons why the battery span has improved because it does not hit up. In fact, it feels cooler than I could remember.

MULTIMEDIA
I am not sure if the improvement in the camera and video output is from the camera or not, but it is noted that the video quality improved following the upgrade and the pictures taking after the upgrade are of better quality.

CM 12.1, android 5.1.1 for the Samsung Galaxy S4, i9500 comes with AudoFX, an application for sound management. This among other things help the Samsung Galaxy S4 produce a better sound quality compare to the previous updates.

GUI, THE GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE

The Graphical User Interface, GUI is more glossy, smoother and even faster compare to the previous CM 11 for the same phone.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 i9500 is powered with Quad-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A15 & quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 CPU (View full Specification here), with Such a CPU; the CM 12.1 is able to run faster and smoother on the phone.
